Celebrating her BOSS-iversary this month, Jennie Jones has been with our agency for 11 years! We caught up with her to see what a day in the life of a booker is really like.
The first thing I do in the morning is… Tell my fiancé I love him
A normal day for me is… one word: MENTAL! There’s always something that needs doing, clients that need quotes, models & creatives to develop and promote, problems to solve and hopefully many bookings to be made.
My beauty essential… I am trying to drink a minimum of 5 pints of water a day. I did this a couple of years ago and it made a huge difference to my skin and wellbeing.
The thing I love most about my job…I do love how mental it is, how busy you are and that no day is the same. It’s a job that certainly keeps you on your toes!
When I get home from work… Usually my evenings are all about relaxing after a long day either at home or out for dinner & drinks with fiancé and friends.
In my free time… My weekends are usually jam-packed mainly with arrangements to see friends or family. If I get chance I like to get out in the hills for big walks around the Peak District, finished off with a few pints in a lovely comfy, cosy country pub.
My bedtime ritual… Make-up off, moisturiser on, and another glass of water by the side of the bed. Then hopefully a good 8hrs of sleep!
The biggest changes I have seen at BOSS over the years… There have been quite a few changes in the 11 years that I have worked here. I remember the days when the bookings were not online, but each model had their own chart made out of card for the month and you wrote on the options and changed them to confirmations by hand. Tipp-Ex was my friend! We now obviously have the online system, which makes life so much easier! I remember there being 9 of us that worked at BOSS, and we have more than doubled in size. But most relevantly I remember Boss’ first HQ: Half Moon Chambers, Chapel Walks. It was a lovely building, perfect for what we needed, but then we grew, and grew, and grew, and grew and look at us now at the new BOSS HQ at 33 Turner Street! Outstanding, beautiful, amazing. I could never have predicted this 11 years ago.
Advice I would give to an aspiring model booker…I feel like I was very lucky to get to be a Model Booker, and I’m not entirely sure how it happened, so my advice is go for it, don’t give up. But be prepared for hard work, stressful times & tears. It can be tough and you need a thick skin. However the laughs, smiles and good times make it all worth it. Oh and numerous glasses of red wine!
