Recipe: Christmas mulled wine

3x UnWaxed Oranges for juice
1x Lemon Zest
1/2 cup soft brown sugar
6 cloves
2 star anise
1 tsp ginger
1 tsp cinnamon
1/2 tsp grated nutmeg 4 cardamom pods
A pinch of fresh vanilla
2 bottles of fruity red wine
1/2 cup almonds
1/3 cup dried coconut
1 apple diced
Dried orange slices to garnish


Combine the spices, sugar & juice in a small pan and add 2 cups of wine so the dry ingredients are covered.

Heat to boil until the sugar is dissolved and you have a thick syrup.

In a large pan gently warm through the remaining wine adding the syrup along with the nuts & diced apple

Enjoy served with dried orange slices. The syrup can be made in advance storing in a sterilised bottle ready for your festive frolics!
