Hey it’s Boss’ social media girl!

Hey all, it’s me, Arooj here. Being Boss’ Digital Content Coordinator I am normally super busy posting all about the wonderful world that is Boss Agencies but this post is all about me!

Working in fashion was always a dream of mine from a very young age and I feel lucky to be in an industry I love and to have a voice to help others on my own social media platform also. I’ve always been interested in marketing, especially social media and the power of it. It really can change anyone’s life.
With Boss’ support, for the past few months I’ve also been working with the BBC and have been filming my journey with neurofibromatosis, which is the growth of tumours in the nerves. This has caused disfigurement on the left side of my body. NF can also cause ADHD, blindness, cancerous tumours, loss of function in nerves and so on.

I feel lucky that I’m able to cover my condition with the clothes I wear, people wouldn’t second guess I had anything wrong with me. I’ve learnt the importance of treating anyone you meet with respect and kindness as you will never know what battles they are facing. I also aim to raise as much awareness as I can with this condition. Over 26,000 people in the U.K. are diagnosed with NF1 yet very little people know what it is, I want to change that. Whether it’s someone with the same condition or going through something similar or have their own body insecurities, I hope to help as many people as I can and be authentic as I can across my page, to be a “real” influencer.

You can read my story over on https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/newsbeat-46443159 and watch my documentary on https://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/p06tm950/newsbeat-documentaries-my-tumour-made-me-trendy

I hope you enjoy my video and thank you for taking time to see my very personal journey.
