Extinction Rebellion brings Manchester to a standstill to highlight the threat of climate change

The socio-political movement Extinction Rebellion, has been attracting much attention across the city this weekend by setting up camp on Deansgate with a big yellow boat bearing the words ‘Planet before profit, act now.’

You may recall their original people protest back in April, which brought London to a standstill for a two week period during the Easter holidays.

With a carnival-like atmosphere the protestors have been marching throughout the streets of Manchester, hosting talks on sustainable living, and staging ‘die-in’ protests which involved lying down for 11 minutes to mark the 11 years it is estimated we have to avoid irreversible climate change.

At Boss we’re supporting this important message highlighting climate change. The future of the planet and sustainable living is something very close to our heart.  Whilst we recognise that the fashion industry has work to do to address environmental issues, Boss Model Management is trying to help the planet by making our offices zero carbon.

When we bought our Georgian building in 2014we set out to make the building as sustainable as possible.  This included installing a renewable heating system, LED lighting and masses of insulation.  We are planning to buy zero carbon electricity from wind farms and install solar panels to further reduce our environmental footprint.  We also make simple efforts such as recycling all our waste within the workplace, which is something everybody can do.
