We’re delighted to introduce our newly appointed Digital Marketing Manager, Rachel. Not only is Rachel a guru in all things digital, but she’s also worked in all areas of strategic marketing, including website development, SEO, PR, as well as having a degree in Media & Music! We caught up with Rachel last week, to see how’s she is settling in at Boss.
Hi Rachel, how is Boss life treating you?
On my first day with Boss, my alarm buzzed, I jumped out of bed (yep that happened) super excited to start the next chapter of my career with an exciting company. But then the dread kicks in with, what are your new work family going to be like? Will they like you? And where are the tea bags to make a cuppa?
Since starting with the company, everyone’s been so lovely. Coming from working in quite a corporate background for several years, it’s nice to be back working in a creative industry, mixing two of my passions: digital marketing and an industry I love – one that fuses fashion, culture, and homegrown talent…I’m proper chuffed!
How did you become a Digital Marketing Manager?
Well I first started out in fashion, working in visual merchandising at the Head Offices for Topshop in London. The experience was pretty cool as I got to see icons such as Kate Moss and Sir Philip Green every day, but I’m a Northern Girl at heart, so I decided to head back up to Manchester and transferred my creative skills to a career in Marketing, and I’ve loved it ever since. Fast forward eight years and I’ve arrived at my new home…Boss.
What do you most enjoy about working in Marketing?
It’s always changing and it’s so fast paced, you have to be one step ahead with what’s going on in the news and the world, including finding new methods to storytelling, it’s almost a game! Every time you publish content, whether it’s a social media post or blog, I’m always trying to discover new ways to extend my reach to different audiences.
What do you get up to outside of Boss?
As a retired festival goer, I can now be found at local gigs here and there, taking part in Netflix boxset marathons, and as a lover of food, cooking up a storm in the kitchen including a mean paella!
If you weren’t a Digital Marketing Manager, what would you want to be?
Apart from always wanting to be on Top of the Pops when I was younger, I always wanted to work in a Zoo, haha I’m a big lover of animals and always fancied it for some weird reason?
What are you looking forward to most about working at Boss?
I’m most looking forward to personalising the brand and showing a different side to Boss that’s never been seen before. There are lots of talented people here at Boss and we do some fantastic work and it’s really worth shouting about!
I also find it really interesting how social media is changing the industry, how it enables models and artists to make names for themselves and control their own brand through platforms such as Twitter and Instagram. While it’s a fantastic opportunity for professionals to promote themselves it’s also a valuable platform for us as an agency, trying to find the next BIG name.
Thanks Rachel. Our new Digital Marketing Manager can be found at FOH at Boss. Got a burning question relating to social media or digital marketing? Get in touch with Rachel via email at firstname.lastname@example.org
